What are the ongoing maintenance costs to run my website?
There are two main ongoing costs to keep your website live on the Internet:
Hosting: Every website needs to have it's files stored on a secure server to be accessible to the Internet. Without it, your website would not exist. After the site is published, there is a monthly fee for hosting, website self-management and ongoing support. It often works out cheaper to go with our self-management service than to pay a web designer every time you need to make updates.
Domain Name Renewal: Each year, your domain name will require renewal. If we purchased this on your behalf, we will simply renew it for you at cost each year ($45 for 12 months).
Can I use a different hosting company?
We do not recommend this. Our host servers are connected with our Content Management System (CMS) so we cannot separate the hosting from our platform to make ongoing edits. Our websites allow you to have access to self-editing 24/7 at no additional charge so it often works out far cheaper to use our service than other hosting companies.
Who owns the website after it's created?
You do. We provide you with complete handover instructions to manage and edit your website, we will simply manage your domain name renewal (if applicable) and hosting for the life of the website.
Is there a contract with your monthly hosting?
Never. There are no contracts with our web design service or our ongoing monthly fees so you can cancel your website anytime.
How long will it take for my website to go live?
We can have your draft website ready within 15 business days. Any delays to this will depend on how quickly you can send Small Business Web Designs your initial information and the time it takes you to review your website (we provide two revisions).
Can i make changes to my site after it's published? How much does it cost?
Of course you can. We give you easy self-management access which is free of charge on our user-friendly platform. You'll be pleasantly surprised at how easy it is! You also have our friendly support team to help you up along the way.
I don’t like my current website, can you help?
Yes we can, as part of our website redesign service. Keep your domain name and when your new website is up and running with us, you simply cancel your old website hosting.
I already have a domain name, can I use this for my website?
Yes, this is no problem at all. We will assist you in ensuring your domain settings point to your new website as part of our web design service.
What is Search Engine Optimisation (SEO)?
Search engine optimisation (SEO) is the process of ranking your website to show up on Google results for various keyword searches related to your business. Read more about SEO and Web Design.
Do you provide SEO on my website?
We are not SEO consultants and do not guarantee first page Google results with our web design service, however we do provide all of the on-page SEO which includes optimising the meta data and content, based on a comprehensive keyword analysis of your business and region. What if I am not happy with my web design, do you offer a refund?
If you are not happy with your draft site, remember we have a comprehensive revision process to capture any feedback to improve the site. If you are still not happy after this, we offer a money back guarantee at no risk to you.
Do you offer eCommerce websites?
We offer a limited eCommerce service up to 10 products. If you require extensive e-Commerce configurations or have many products, we encourage you to speak to other web designers who specialise in higher volume retail websites.
Are there any emails included with my website?
We do not include email accounts within our standard service. If you would like an email address connected to your domain name, we can set one up for you through Google Workspace (formerly G Suite), for a one-off fee of $150. There is an ongoing charge of $6 per month per email address directly payable to Google for the mailbox.
Will my website be available to all Apple and Android devices?
Yes, all of our websites are smartphone and tablet-friendly and standard with our website development service.
How can I track traffic and data of people visiting my website?
By installing Google Analytics, which is a Google program that collates and presents all your website visitor statistics including number of visitors, how long they spent on each page, where they are from, keyword searches to your website and plenty more. We can set this up for you for a one-off fee of $50. Learn more about our add-ons.
What is Google My Business?
Google My Business is a Google service which allows you have a Google Places listing (a "pin" on the Google map) to give your business name and map a prominent display on Page 1 of Google when users search your business name. You can also gather reviews here. If you would like Small Business Web Designs to create this for you, we can do it for a one-off fee of $100 and you will need a registered physical address that we can submit for your business.
